History: Dakota Estates Retirement Center was developed in June of 1973 as a Merket Rele Project under 221(d) (3) of the National Housing Act. The project is unique in that it was developed as a "pilot project" with strong suppoert by the kate Senter Quentin Burdick including congregate dining and housekeeping serverces. For many years following it developement, the project has operated quite successfully in providing "assisted housing services" to the elderly population in and around Lidgerwood.

Services: Dakota Estates is a non-profit, community-owned corporation, dedicated to providing both elderly and disabled persons with adequate housing and services designed to meet their needs and to promote their health, security, happiness and usefulness in longer living. Rental assistance is available to those who qualify. Services offered include housekeeping, laundry, meals, transportation to local businesses and the clinic, activities, a contract nurse and a service coordinator.

We also have our Annual Picinic in July, and sponsor the Dakota Estates Golf Tournament in August at our local golf course.
