History: The business was started in 1946 by James Popp.  Early in 1976 Jim purchased the Thielman hardware building to expand his store.  At that time his son, John, joined the business.  On July 4, 1976 the newly remodeled building burned down, one week prior to the grand opening.  The Popp family realized the importance of the hardware business in Lidgerwood and re-built the building and the business.  The grand opening was held in December 1976.  The business continues to operate today under the ownership of John Popp. He also has another store in Milnor, ND.
